D96 News

At District 96, we know our students’ success depends on a safe, secure, and inclusive learning environment. Providing this environment is the district’s top priority.

We understand that some families may have concerns regarding potential visits by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers at our schools. District 96 aims to ensure that no student or family is discriminated against, harassed, or bullied for any reason.

We adhere to strict protocols regarding school visitors and student confidentiality:

Strict Visitor Protocols: All visitors to our schools, including law enforcement personnel, must undergo a thorough vetting process and have a legitimate educational reason for their visit.

Agency and Police Interviews: Board Policy 7:150 sets the requirements as to how the district protects children and vet any possible need for children to interact with anyone outside of our school staff.

Confidentiality and Support: We maintain the confidentiality of all student information and provide support and resources to families who may be experiencing concerns related to immigration.

Illinois State Board of Education: The State Board of Education also provides guidance on immigration enforcement actions, available here
